Artificial intelligence is useful only when it sits inside real work: a file to process, a search to accelerate, a decision to inform. Without that anchor, it remains a demo.
Start with the work, not the model
Before discussing LLMs, RAG or agents, name the process, the users, the available data, the risk level and what happens if the system is wrong. This discipline prevents decorative projects.
Framing questions
- Which work is slow, repetitive or poorly tooled today?
- Which data is actually accessible, and to whom?
- Which error is acceptable, and which is not?
- Who validates the result before it has a business effect?
Integrate with what exists
An AI capability rarely stands alone. It relies on a business application, authentication, a document corpus, APIs and logging.

An architecture example, not a client project. Each context imposes its own choices.

Govern from the first prototype
A prototype without governance quickly becomes debt. Decide approved use cases, data access, prompt and model controls, evaluation, human review, cost tracking and security.
Transfer the skill
An AI system that nobody can operate or challenge will not last. Training business teams and documenting limits are part of deployment.
